How the parking check works
Address
You enter a complete Saint Paul street address. It is sent in the body of the check request, not placed in the page URL.
Geocoding
The U.S. Census geocoder converts the address into coordinates and a matched jurisdiction.
Jurisdiction validation
The checker confirms that the result is in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It does not guess when a match is missing or ambiguous.
Official status
The current timed Snow Emergency phase is retrieved from the City of Saint Paul’s live status system.
Official street classification
The City’s ArcGIS data identifies the nearby street as a Night Plow Route or Day Plow Route when possible.
Result
A deterministic rule compares the phase and route. Missing official data produces a cautious result, never an optimistic guess.

The official City source confirms that snow-emergency parking restrictions are not active. It is not a guarantee that ordinary parking is legal.

An active official phase and a known official route classification align to prohibit parking. This is the checker’s high-confidence restricted state.

A Snow Emergency may be active, but the available data cannot verify every restriction at that exact location.
Current Status Unavailable
The live official status could not be retrieved or safely parsed. The checker does not reuse an old result as current.
What remains outside the checker
Normal signs, temporary signs, meters, permits, hydrants, construction, events, private property, exact curb side, and whether cleanup has reached the curb may not be represented.
